It’s rare to be able to find an outlet that will find value in the words of a 17-year-old student, but News Decoder is unique in that it seeks out perspectives of the youth on contentious issues. When I first received news of the opportunity, I leapt at it.
Student Ambassadors
Each academic partner nominates Student Ambassadors to serve as the primary link between News Decoder and the school. Student Ambassadors help spread News Decoder’s mission of global connectedness and media literacy education on campus and across the globe.
In this leadership role, Student Ambassadors promote News Decoder opportunities to their school community, help organize webinars and workshops and strengthen student and faculty engagement. They represent their school to the wider News Decoder community in global roundtable discussions and spotlight interviews.

My students really enjoyed being partnered with a partner school. It was very valuable for my students to see that there are other ways of doing things, thinking about things. That just gave them a lot of perspective.

Our academic partners leverage News Decoder’s editorial team and exclusive online educational resources to help students develop core global citizenship competencies. We work closely with each of our partners to tailor our educational offering to meet their specific needs and interests.
News Decoder is particularly well-placed to partner with schools that have:
- an international outlook or commitment to global citizenship;
- a robust global studies or experiential education program;
- an IB Diploma Programme;
- a Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) curriculum component;
- journalism or media classes, clubs or programs;
- a strong commitment to co-curriculars or extra-curriculars;
- an openness to innovative educational methods;
- an interest in developing any of the above.
We partner with schools and universities of diverse means and missions. The academic partners enrolled in News Decoder’s program are members of the nonprofit Nouvelles-Découvertes and are eligible to participate in its annual general meeting. As such, they play a critical role in shaping News Decoder’s strategy and future.
