Working at News Decoder
News Decoder is a global educational news service for young people powered by a team of journalists, educators and nonprofit professionals based around the world.
We’re a registered nonprofit headquartered in Paris, France, but we operate a virtual workplace. Our current team members work remotely from France, the UK, Ireland, Bulgaria and the U.S., while our correspondents report from more than a dozen countries worldwide. Whenever possible, we collaborate in person at co-working office spaces in Paris.
Currently there are no openings at News Decoder, but check back for updates.
We offer 6-month paid internships in January and July. Preference is given for Paris-based candidates eligible for a convention de stage, but we will consider qualified applicants based anywhere in the world.
Write for News Decoder
Are you interested in helping young people better understand the big news issues of our times? Do you have experience decoding complex topics for an international audience? Consider joining News Decoder’s roster of correspondents.
Our target audience is young people and educators around the world. Youth see headlines all the time on their devices and they know that some events are more important than others — but they don’t always understand why. Educators look for informative, accessible and relevant articles they can use in their classrooms. News Decoder correspondents provide the kind of explanatory journalism that offers the background often missing in mainstream news outlets.
We strongly encourage the youth we work with to tap authoritative sources when producing work for us, and expect the same of our correspondents. News Decoder only publishes original material not previously published elsewhere.
