Webinar: “Covering Islam Today”

Here is a replay of a webinar that we held on April 12, 2016, featuring Jonathan Lyons teaching “Covering Islam Today: An Introduction”:

In presenting the mini-course, Dr. Lyons drew on a series of seminars he has presented to Reuters journalists worldwide, as well as on a semester-long course developed for George Mason University, in the United States.

Lyons is a veteran foreign correspondent and author, with many years of experience reporting on the Islamic world, including posts in Ankara, Istanbul, Tehran, and Jakarta.

He is the author of three books on the region, most recently Islam through Western Eyes: From the Crusades to the War on Terrorism and The House of Wisdom: How the Arabs Transformed Western Civilization, which has been translated into a dozen languages.

Lyons has a doctorate in sociology from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, and lives in Portland, Oregon, where he is writing a revisionist history of the Muslim world.
