RESOURCES FOR EDUCATORS
Go beyond the headlines to teach your students about global issues
The Educators’ Catalog delivers a monthly selection of explanatory articles to your inbox, building upon News Decoder’s innovative model of merging education and journalism to unpack complex global topics.
Each edition features four recent articles — written by News Decoder’s correspondents and youth journalists — designed to deepen readers’ understanding of global issues and spur critical thinking. An Editor’s Note accompanies each article to explain the selection and propose classroom exercises. Each article also ends with questions that prompt student discussion around the issues identified in the story.

EXEMPLARY GLOBAL EDUCATORS
Nominate an inspirational global educator
Do you know an educator who is passionate about expanding their students’ global horizons? Someone who has introduced innovative tools or techniques into their teaching to help students better understand global issues and develop the skills of global citizens?
We’d love to recognize their work!
News Decoder’s Faculty in the Spotlight Series celebrates educators who are inventing or adopting global education best practices in their classrooms.
Part of being a global citizen is knowing what is happening in the world. If you want to communicate a story about a world event, photography is the best tool to do that… The approach I take in my classes is to challenge my students with finding alternative ways of communicating their message, through using things like still-life setups, photo manipulations or symbolic colors or lighting.
