The successful candidate will foster impactful relationships with our key stakeholders by executing our communications strategy and leveraging his or her interpersonal skills to create transformative educational experiences for students.
About News Decoder
News Decoder is a global educational news service for young people. We partner with schools around the world to teach media literacy and journalistic skills that broaden students’ knowledge of global issues. Our educational services include workshops, global webinars, editing, content publication and eLearning courses.
News Decoder is a small organization with outsize reach, impact and ambitions. We offer a transformative educational experience that helps students develop critical skills and behaviors that are distinct from what they learn in the classroom. We are growing rapidly on a number of fronts: school partnerships, interest from schools, content on our site and web traffic.

The successful candidate will lead communications with our partner schools by designing and creating attractive and engaging educational resources, marketing collateral and materials for sales and fundraising. The candidate will shape and execute News Decoder’s social media strategy, which entails managing News Decoder’s multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) and growing our audience through these channels. The candidate oversees the creation of our annual podcast series, The Kids Are Alright.
The successful candidate will be a key liaison with faculty, student ambassadors and the broader student body at our partner schools. The candidate will organize and lead global webinars and promote student engagement with our educational resources. The candidate will help ensure we fulfill our obligations to our partner schools, driving partner retention and growth.
The successful candidate will have the following key qualifications:
Experience and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field
- 1+ years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, journalism or a related field

- Attentive to detail
- A self-starter
- Willing to tackle a range of responsibilities
- Interest in international affairs and global issues
News Decoder supports virtual work arrangements and welcomes applications from candidates outside of France. If the candidate is interested in working from our Paris office, he or she must be eligible to work legally in France. No French is required for this position.
Please send a cover letter and resume to email@example.com. Please note that we are not able to contact everyone who applies. You can expect to hear from us if we are interested in scheduling an interview.
We are looking to have someone start in the late summer 2020 and work full-time hours. Compensation will be based on a person’s qualifications and years of experience.
“This opportunity will provide you with a leadership and managerial position that a young person would be hard pressed to find in larger organizations or corporations. You will be able to leverage your strengths and address your weaknesses as you help News Decoder build its program” — Savannah Jenkins, News Decoder’s current communications manager
“Upon completing my MSc Marketing programme in 2018, I was looking for a position that would enable me to put marketing theory into practice and to hone my professional skills. My goal was to [work for an organization] that valued my insights, experiences and global perspective. I didn’t want to be simply another marketing assistant in a large corporation. When I met News Decoder founder Nelson Graves and learned more about this position, I knew that I had found a rare opportunity to grow both an innovative, mission-driven organization and my own CV and portfolio.” — Alexandra Grey, News Decoder’s communications manager in 2019
